Gents, As you are hopefully already aware, Mid-States Federation will be hosting the International Convention this year – July 17-21 in Rosemont, Illinois. Rockford Cosmos will need to play a significant role in coordinating the event, staffing volunteer requirements, hosting the social room, and helping with various activities. The Aurora club will also be actively involved, but outside of that it will mostly fall on the Rockford team. Dayton Smith, our Mid-States Federation Governor, is leading the coordination efforts with a handful of committee members but much help will also be needed from our club members. We are hopeful to have a very strong representation at this year’s convention, given the close proximity and level of responsibility for our club. Plus, it is assured to be a great weekend of entertainment and Cosmo camaraderie!
Would this be your first convention? Come learn more about the international level of our organization and join your Cosmo brothers for a weekend of social activities and guaranteed entertainment! Has it been a while since you’ve attended a convention? Don’t miss out on what you know will be an awesome time and come help make this one legendary! Are you a convention regular? Well, you know how to bring it then so start recruiting and get ready to lead the way!
Our committee would like to get an idea of the possible number of Rockford members attending, not only to get a good idea on head count but also to help our efforts in organizing volunteer needs. Please use this EVENT INVITE to indicate your PROBABLE ATTENDANCE STATUS by hitting the registration button below where you’ll be able to respond as ATTENDING or NOT ATTENDING. IF MAYBE...please respond as attending and then in the message box type "Maybe". You may change this at any time and it does NOT register you for the convention. Wives or significant others are also welcomed, with some attending the full event and others planning to join us for Saturday night and the day's festivities.
If you are planning to attend, you must register separately and online via the international website (click here). Note: you must register by June 23rd to receive the early bird discount and registration closes on July 14th! Additional details and the convention schedule can also be found at the link.
Several volunteers will be needed. If you can attend the entire convention – great! If not, consider attending a day or two and pitch in. Social festivities include a Bob Seger tribute band, bar hopping, entertainment in the park, Cubs game, down town tours and more! The important Delegate’s Meeting will be Friday morning, the Inauguration Lunch for the new CI officers on Saturday morning, and the Annual Awards Dinner Saturday night. We have funds set aside to help subsidize registration fees at the convention. Additional volunteer details, as well as info regarding subsidy dollars, to be coordinated once we have a better idea on number of members attending.
We hope to see you at convention and look forward to those attending helping make this one set the new standards for conventions to come! |

The next Poker night is this Friday at Hoffman house. We need help running three shifts
On most poker nights, we average between $1,750 to $2,000 in profits to the club. In order for us to earn those profits, we need 3 shifts of volunteers for 4 hours a piece with 3 people per shift. (9 total people)
If you divide $2,000 by 9 people, that means that the club receives over $200 per volunteer that assists on each poker night. ($200/4 hours = over $50/hour per volunteer)
There are not too many not-for-profit events where organizations can quantify $50/hour for the time of their volunteers. Please volunteer to help at the next quarterly poker night! Times to be announced. Great job Brandon Gruner for organizing this routine fundraising event.

Hello Cosmo's Join us for this luncheon where we will be welcoming The Oscar Mike Foundation. This is an amazing local organization out of Marengo that helps Veterens. Here is there mission statement. -Our mission is very simple (yet collectively holds a fundamental goal): To help empower military veterans who own businesses to grow, hire fellow veterans and give back to military veteran organizations that directly impact the servicemen and women (and their respective families) who proudly served our great nation.By starting at the small business level, our goal is bring attention to our nation's small businesses owned by past and present members of the United States military. As each business grows to the point of hiring, it is our goal to help said VOBs and SDVOSBs reach out to fellow veterans in order to fulfill employment vacancies (what we are calling our Veterans Hire Veterans Initiative. Once the VOB/SDVOSB has grown to the point where his or her owner(s) would like to give back, our goal is that said business owner(s) give back specifically to those organizations that help fellow military families like: homeless veterans organizations, PTSD Awareness events, Stand-Downs and more.. |
