Linda Niemec from Crusader has invited the Cosmos to have a destination lunch at their brand new facility on Alpine. Crusader Clinic is our #1 beneficiary. We have donated over $500,000 to them over the years that has supplied diabetic test strips, blood sugar monitors, etc. Our club has played a significant role in their ability to treat as many diabetic patients as possible. Please make an effort to attend this lunch. It is important that the Cosmos show their support by attending this one in particular. Boxed lunches from Pinnon's will be provided. One of our newer members, Keith Kruchten, has made the arrangements for this special lunch presentation by Rockford Promise to our club. Also, please note, we will have Cosmopolitan International representation at this lunch! John Hubert, our current International president, will be in attendance, as well as Tracy Miller, our executive director, and a couple additional members. It is critical that our club brings strong attendance to this lunch! Please check your calendar and RSVP. Here is a brief overview of Rockford Promise: Rockford Promise (RP) is a location-based scholarship program. In partnership with Rock Valley College and Rockford University, RP gives full-tuition scholarships to RPS graduates so they can attend college, and never have to worry about paying for tuition. The goal of Rockford Promise is to make post-secondary education affordable and expected for students in our community. Promise programs – which guarantee funding for every public school graduate in their local community – show positive results:

For over 4 years, the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club has been able to use our not-for-profit license to host quarterly poker events in coordination with Rockford Charitable Games Association. In a nutshell, the club splits the profits of each poker night with Rockford Charitable Games. This is a win/win for the club. and Rockford Charitable Games. On most poker nights, we average between $1,750 to $2,000 in profits to the club. In order for us to earn those profits, we need 3 shifts of volunteers for 4 hours a piece with 3 people per shift. (9 total people) Our volunteers simply need to run the cashiers desk. NO gambling is required. You are NOT even required to like the game of poker. If you divide $2,000 by 9 people, that means that the club receives over $200 per volunteer that assists on each poker night. ($200/4 hours = over $50/hour per volunteer) Please volunteer for this poker event. |

Launched in 2014, KFACT Inc. is a grassroots 501 (c) 3 nonprofit youth development and holistic mentoring organization established to alleviate opportunity gaps among young ladies attending Rockford Public Schools. The Lady All Stars in their mentoring group experience missed opportunities due to their socioeconomic status, lack of awareness, and a disconnect between them and the services available. Often times young women in public schools are eligible for opportunities to expand their horizons, but they lack the confidence needed to reach for the stars. That is why KFACT makes them Lady All Stars. They encourage them to reach higher, dream bigger, and realize they are worthy of the opportunities before them. Please check your calendar and RSVP for this lunch, which is our 3rd to last lunch of the season. |
