"Selling YOU...Ready, Set, Go!" BACKGROUND Some presidents in the past have chosen to "theme" their presidency. The theme for my presidency for 2017/2018 is to "run the Cosmopolitan Club like a business." With the significant revenue that our club generates with our 200 members (and growing), it is critical that we apply business sense to every decision that we make as an organization. In the spirit of this theme, we have invited Gary Kieper, CEPA, CFBA to speak at our first luncheon on Thursday 9/28/17 at 12:00 at Forest Hills Country Club. The title of his presentation is "Selling YOU ... Ready, Set, Go!" ABOUT GARY Gary has just finished his first book titled "READY, SET, GO!" that was a collaboration between himself and Brian Tracy, who is a highly recognized public figure in the world of motivational speaking and self development. The book is set to launch this fall. Besides an author, Gary is a sales trainer, coach, speaker, certified exit planning advisor, and a certified family business advisor. He is also a prospective Cosmo member. You do not want to miss this presentation that will be one of the first of its kind for the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club. Please use the link to register. Sincerely, John LiCausi |

Hear Sheriff Caruana's presentation, have lunch, and snag your poinsettia packet so that we can kickoff another great fundraising event! Let's have a great turnout to support Sheriff Caruana. The AMBUCS believe the fun and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy. People who are unable to operate a traditional bike can now share this experience, thanks to the AmTryke therapeutic tricycle. Earlier this year at our Cosmo Charities Awards Dinner, we granted $1,250 to the Rock River Valley AMBUCS for the purpose of providing these tricycles to those in need. Come hear Dave Jahn and Al Bedell from AMBUCS present how our grant money is helping them change lives with this mobility technology. An AmTryke will be on display. We will also be having the Poinsettia Early Bird Drawing at this event! Please RSVP using the link. |

Your help is needed! The Rockford Cosmopolitan Club sponsors a Food Bank Truck once a year. This is a great opportunity to give back to the people in need in our community. Here is the scoop…
A semi-truck pulls up and we then pull the tables out of the truck to create a perimeter. The truck is loaded with food and essentials. We allocate the items based on the number of people in line and we pass out the food and supplies to the people. There is no cost to volunteer. We are simply looking for about 30-35 people to volunteer about 2.5 hours of their time. The location is the same as the soup kitchen grill out events, which is the parking lot of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 320 S. 5th street next to the White House which is the Soup Kitchen.
Spouses, guests, and teenagers are welcome. It’s a great opportunity to put things into perspective. Last year we gave out 9,000 lbs. of food and assisted 471 families!
However, in order to accomplish this task, we need your help! Click on Sign Up to view available slots and book yourself directly online. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Steve Elsberg, Event Chair

For over 4 years, the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club has been able to use our not-for-profit license to host quarterly poker events in coordination with Rockford Charitable Games Association. In a nutshell, the club splits the profits of each poker night with Rockford Charitable Games. This is a win/win for the club. and Rockford Charitable Games. On most poker nights, we average between $1,750 to $2,000 in profits to the club. In order for us to earn those profits, we need 3 shifts of volunteers for 4 hours a piece with 3 people per shift. (9 total people) Our volunteers simply need to run the cashiers desk. NO gambling is required. You are NOT even required to like the game of poker. If you divide $2,000 by 9 people, that means that the club receives over $200 per volunteer that assists on each poker night. ($200/4 hours = over $50/hour per volunteer) Please volunteer for this poker event. |

Each year, our club makes arrangements to have a family night at the Rockford IceHogs game. The cost that members will be charged goes strictly to subsidize Food, Soft Drinks, Service Charge, Tax, and Additional Gratuity. A cash bar is available for beer and wine. Sunday, February 18th, 2018 Doors Open at 3:00PM | Game Starts at 4:00PM Star Wars Garden Gnome Giveaway Night! Adults: $25 The cost will be billed to your club account.
